Seminar on revision to corporate governance rules on 1 February

A seminar on revision to corporate governance rules applicable to entities listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) will be held on 1 February from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mövenpick Hotel Colombo 3.

The discussion at this seminar will be focused on: Fit and proper assessment criteria for directors and CEOs; Minimum number of Board members; Segregation of the position of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer; Appointment of a Senior Independent Director in specific instances; Criteria for determining independence of directors and requirements on Alternate Directors; The establishment and maintaining board policies for risk management and internal controls; and Social and governance sustainability.

JCI Colombo Mid-Town in technical collaboration with Asian Pathfinder Legal Consultants and Drafting Services and Corporate Management Consultants will conduct this seminar on revision to corporate governance rules applicable to entities listed on the CSE. These rules became applicable to listed companies from 1 October 2023.

Presentations will be made by CSE Chief Regulatory Officer Renuka Wijewardene and SEC former Chairman Dr. Dayanath Jayasuriya PC. The panellist will be SEC former DG Malik Cader and LOLC Holdings PLC Chief Operating Officer Kithsiri Gunawardane.

The program is intended for directors and senior management of listed companies, compliance managers, legal officers, accountants, auditors, company secretaries, stockbrokers, entities regulated by the sec, regulators, and investors.
