Approximately 65% of Batticaloa’s total population represent the district’s workforce. While people of Valaichchenai primarily depend on traditional industries for a steady income, a considerable portion of this segment also leans on small and medium-scale enterprises and other part-time trade activities.
Playing a significant role in the business front is the fishing industry. Apart from the Valaichchenai Lagoon, improved facilities and operational efficiency in the Fisheries Harbour has pushed the industry to emerge as one of the most promising sources of income to a majority in the community. Over the past decade, the serene, shallow seas, rich biodiversity and unique cultural practices have collectively brought Valaichchenai into the tourism limelight, creating newer avenues not only for income-generation, but also for the locality’s socioeconomic development.
The company boasts a broad product portfolio ranging from leasing, fixed deposits, savings, gold financing, business loans, personal loans, fast draft, and factoring to Smart Pay, its automated bill payment facility.
In light of expanding its branch network to Valaichchenai, the senior management of Siyapatha Finance PLC extended the efforts of “Siyapathen Mihikathata”, the CSR program focusing on islandwide environmental conservation, to BT/KK/Puthukkudiyiruppu Vani Vidyalaya, where the company also donated computers and accessories to uplift the school’s quality of digital education.
