Sri Lanka Insurance awarded 300 financial scholarships to those who excelled in the Grade 5 Scholarship, G.C.E. O/L and G.C.E. A/L examinations in the year 2018.

The awarding ceremony was held on 16 November at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre with the presence of scholarship winners, parents, principals of the respective schools, officers of Department of Education and the management of Sri Lanka Insurance. 

The annual initiative was launched for the 6th consecutive time in April 2019 to inspire the younger generation to realize their future dreams. From the received applications top 100 rankers from each examination were qualified for scholarships which in total are 300 scholarships for Grade 5 Scholarship, G.C.E. Ordinary Level and G.C.E. Advanced Level examinations. 

Grade 5 Scholarship and G.C.E. Ordinary Level qualifiers were selected based on the district achievement and G.C.E. Advanced Level applicants were selected based on the national level achievement. 

Financial scholarships of Rs. 20,000 , Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 50,000 were awarded to the students who qualify for the scholarship from Grade 5 Scholarship, G.C.E. Ordinary Level and G.C.E. Advanced Level examinations respectively.

Since 2014, SLIC has rewarded over 1200 scholarships which are worth over Rs. 50 million for the children of the nation and in the year 2019 SLIC has awarded over 10 million worth of scholarships.

The schoalarship scheme was open for all the children of Sri Lanka irrespective of whether or not he/she is a child of a SLIC Life policyholder. Further if scholarship holder’s parent is a SLIC Life policyholder, scholarship benefits were extended for future years.
