Standard Chartered Sri Lanka clinched two awards at the Asset Triple A Treasurise Awards 2023. In addition to the ‘Best Payments and Collections Solution’ award received under the ‘New Economy Solutions’ category for the recently implemented interbank instant payment Application Programming Interface (API) for PickMe, a brand of Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka, Standard Chartered Sri Lanka Global Implementation Transaction Banking Head Devaka Wijedoru was awarded ‘Triple A Implementation Manager of The Year’.
The Asset Triple A Treasurise Awards are industry excellence recognitions awarded annually to companies and financial institutions that have launched or helped implement initiatives in corporate treasury management, trade finance, supply chain and/or risk management.
Standard Chartered, which had earlier implemented the country’s first ever interbank instant payment API connectivity solution for PickMe driver partner payments, stepped up to address Digital Mobility Solutions Lanka’s latest need for speed with a solution that consisted of issuing notifications on receivables 24x7 via API connectivity directly to the back-end system of PickMe.
The app’s exclusive corporate solutions that facilitate on demand transport have been on high demand as a result of companies working round the clock but has lacked a banking solution to streamline receivables which is where Standard Chartered’s implementation played a key role.
At a recent event held in Colombo attended by Standard Chartered Sri Lanka CEO Bingumal Thewarathanthri and Standard Chartered Cash and Transaction Banking South Asia Regional Head Kashinath Hariharan, a commemorative plaque was presented to PickMe CEO Zulfer Jiffry in celebration of the award and the efforts in driving this world class client process embedded connectivity. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered Sri Lanka Global Implementation Transaction Banking Head Devaka Wijedoru secured the award for ‘Triple A Implementation Manager of the Year’. The award recognises individuals who have excelled and blazed the trail overcoming challenges, adopting best practices, and setting new standards for business/industry excellence in treasury and finance.
Commenting on the Bank’s achievement was Standard Chartered Sri Lanka CEO Bingumal Thewarathanthri: “We were extremely proud to learn that the robust API-driven solution our team built for PickMe has won at the prestigious Asset Triple A Treasurise Awards. Seeing this solution offered by Standard Chartered, which requires zero dependency on human intervention, receive this recognition makes us extremely proud as a team to have worked with Digital Mobility Solutions to achieve this feat. Our congratulations also go out to Devaka for his sustained efforts in driving this implementation.”
“For our team at Digital Solutions Lanka, working with Standard Chartered has been a very insightful experience. As always, our work has been focused on upgrading the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our services with the help of technology, standards, order, and convenience. This collaboration with Standard Chartered has allowed us to do just that and we are glad that this implementation has been recognised by a prestigious organisation for an award,” said PickMe Founder and CEO Zulfer Jiffry.
Standard Chartered Sri Lanka Transaction Banking Head Roger Norton said: “We are extremely proud of our team at Standard Chartered Sri Lanka and the project lead, Devaka Wijedoru for their achievement. Working with Digital Mobility Solutions was already a rewarding experience, and we are grateful to see that the benefits of implementing this unique proposition have been recognised for the value created for our client. We look forward to extending our proven API-driven transaction banking capabilities across our valued corporate clientele where similar requirements for speed and transparency are desired.”

This has enabled Digital Mobility Solutions to produce management information pertaining to their receivables allowing more timely decisions towards optimising their cashflow.
