Suranjani Wickremeratne joins Sarvodaya Development Finance Board

Ramya Suranjani Wickremeratne has been appointed as a Non-Executive Independent Director of Sarvodaya Development Finance PLC.

Wickremeratne serves as Dental Care International President, an international NGO that conducts a training program for girls of children’s homes and low-income families to become dental surgery nurse assistants. She also serves on the Damrivi Foundation Board of Trustees, a Buddhist charity that focuses on counselling and Buddhist activities to develop the spiritual, social, and economic requirements of the society.

Wickremeratne is the current Sri Lanka Sumithrayo Chairperson, a charity incorporated by an Act of Parliament and also a registered NGO, which focuses on the prevention of suicides with the services provided island-wide via 10 branches, two rural programs, and the drug rehabilitation program.

She is also the Tarana Foundation Founder President, and serves in this capacity currently. Tarana is a registered charity that focuses on uplifting the standards of rural students, rural communities, and rural schools.

Besides, Wickremeratne has worked as the Head of Audit at Deutsche Bank AG – Colombo Branch from 1995-2009. She has carried out mainly operational audits, and has visited branches and regional/global operations units located in Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Bangkok, Pakistan, Malaysia, and India for audits.

She has also worked as the Plantation Housing and Social Welfare Trust Accountant and Administration Manager from 1993-1995.

Her initial audit work experience comes from working as a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young on management and financial audits from 1988-1991.

She has an MBA from the University of Warwick (UK). She is also an Associate Member of the Chartered institute of Management Accountants (FCMA – UK).

She is a product of St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo 7, and is also an Alumni of the University of Colombo. Currently, she holds the position of Vice Chairperson of the Alumni Association of the University of Colombo.
