Suresh Amerasekera new CEO at Nation Lanka Finance

Suresh Amerasekera has been promoted to the post of CEO at the Nation Lanka Finance PLC with effect from 16 June. He had previously served as the Chief Operating Officer since September 2019. The appointment as CEO follows the retirement of Jayantha Perera as CEO.

Amerasekera is a senior banker, with over 35 years of experience in the finance industry. The last position he held was the CEO of Pan Oceanic Bank, Solomon Islands from May 2016 to September 2018.

Prior to that, he held the position as the CEO of Housing Development Finance Corporation and Orient Finance PLC.

For the last 12 years he held five positions in the ‘C Suite’ in two banks and three finance companies, including the current position.

He has also served as an Assistant General Manager at Seylan Bank and Chief Operating Officer at Alliance Finance Co. PLC and had his initial training in banking at the Colombo branches of State Bank of India and Bank of America.

Amerasekera holds a MBA (International Business) from the Edith Cowan University, Western Australia and Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK.

He has a proven track record in strategy formulation, corporate and retail lending, and risk management.
