Asia Asset Finance PLC has announced the appointment of senior chartered accountant and renowned management consultant Chaaminda Kumarasiri as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Board of Directors with effect from 1 April.
Asia Asset Finance is Sri Lanka’s sole gold-focused financial solutions provider, backed by its parent company, the India-based global financial services giant Muthoot Finance – one of the world’s largest gold financing companies.
Chaaminda is an award-winning professional with a proven track record of holding senior leadership positions in both prominent local entities and multinational corporations. He currently serves as the Chairman/Principal Consultant of H C P Consulting Ltd. and holds board positions and advisory roles in a few leading organisations. Additionally, he serves as the Vice Chairman of the Member Network Panel of ACCA Sri Lanka and represents the entire South Asia region on the International Panel on Accounting Education (IPAE) at the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
Chaaminda stands as a pivotal figure in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, often showcased across various public forums, national TV/Radio channels, and prominent YouTube channels. He is highly sought after as a guest speaker and panellist at business forums and entrepreneurship-related events. Furthermore, he is the Founder/President of Asia Pacific Institute of Money and Entrepreneurship Development (IMED), an independent organisation dedicated to strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the country.
To Asia Asset Finance PLC, Chaaminda brings over two decades of extensive experience in the corporate sector and public practice holding senior leadership positions. He has held prestigious positions such as Financial Controller at the Bank of Ceylon, Chief Financial Officer at The Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, Assistant Vice President at HSBC Securities Services, and Senior Manager – Assurance and Advisory Business Services at Ernst & Young, including a secondment to Ernst & Young LLP in New York. He has made significant contributions to the professional community by serving on numerous committees and task forces, including the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He has also served as a Commission Member of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka.
He boasts a diverse range of professional and academic qualifications, complemented by numerous awards and medallions. He is a Fellow member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) – UK, The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka, and The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) of Sri Lanka. Chaaminda holds a BSc. Accountancy (Special) Degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, graduating with First Class honours, and has furthered his education with an MBA in Finance from the University of Colombo.
Chaaminda was honoured with the ACCA National Advocate of the Year Award for 2022, recognising his exceptional commitment and dedication to promoting the accountancy profession and its values.
