Union Assurance PLC (UA) focuses on fostering a great place to work and providing invaluable support towards the personal development of its employees by constantly encouraging them to improve their talents and skills. With the intention of improving distribution management skills, a group of Bancassurance Regional Managers were provided an opportunity to follow the National Diploma in Sales Management (NDSM) offered by SLIM (Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing). The team received the qualification at the SLIM Graduation Ceremony held on 17 November at Nelum Pokuna. 

The team of Bancassurance Regional Managers consist of Niroshan Alawaththa, Hiran Pathum Chandimal, Nayana Gunathilka and Charith Abeywardena. The experience, knowledge and skills gained through this professional program will be beneficial for the organisation to elevate its bancassurance operations and have a positive impact on organisational sales performance and profitability. 

Bancassurance AGM Samantha Herath stated, “Union Assurance has always aligned people development with business objectives. We have no doubt that the achievement of this team will motivate others to gain professional qualifications to complement their practical work experience. We will continue to enrich our human capital and equip them with the required professional skills to add value to all our bancassurance partners.” 

With the aim of enhancing the level of competencies and professionalism of the Bancassurance staff, UA has introduced a well-structured and comprehensive learning pathway for all the employees in all categories. These programs include a separate LEAD (Leadership excellence and development) program for employees in the supervisory category, need based programs including CPD training programs for operational Bancassurance staff and special training programs conducted for CEO’s club members – which includes a group of bancassurance assistants who have excelled and showcased outstanding performances. The Union Assurance learning and development team will continue to evolve training structures and enrich the sales team with appropriate skills and competencies.
