Aravinda Perera assumes duties as Chairman Pan Asia Bank

Pan Asia Bank recently welcomed respected banker and business leader Aravinda Perera ceremoniously, on the first day of his role as Chairman and to lead the bank to the next phase of growth.

On the occasion, Director/CEO Naleen Edirisinghe and the Corporate Management joined for a simple yet elegant welcoming ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Perera said that he and the Deputy Chairman look forward to laying out the strategic direction for the bank to make it ‘future ready’. He also thanked the outgoing Chairman Jayantha Rangamuwa, for his contribution during his tenure.

Separately, the Association of Professional Bankers (APB) also felicitated Perera, a former President, for ascending to the highest office as Chairman of Pan Asia Bank. The recognition from APB is a testimonial to Perera’s notable contribution to the banking sector as a long-time member of APB while underscoring his visionary leadership.

Perera has garnered valuable expertise as the Sampath Bank’s Managing Director from 1 January 2012 until his retirement in September 2016. He is also the Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC Managing Director, Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC Chairman and Hayleys PLC Director. He is also a former Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka Governing Board Member. He is an Institute of Engineers of Sri Lanka (MIESL) Member and a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.). He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) (FCMA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers – Sri Lanka (FIB).

During his illustrious career, Perera has won many accolades, including ‘The CEO Leadership Achievement Award 2016’ by the Asian Banker and the prestigious ‘Platinum Honours – 2014 award by the Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni (PIMA) of Sri Jayewardenepura University. He was also honoured with the ‘Award for the Outstanding Contribution to the Banking Industry – 2015’ by the Association of Professional Bankers and awarded an Honorary Life Membership by the Association of Professional Bankers in October 2018.
