Yudi joins Arpico Insurance Board

Yudhishtran Kanagasabai has been appointed as Non-Executive Independent Director on the Board of Arpico Insurance PLC.

He fills the vacancy on the Board following the resignation of Lasinee Seresinhe in May.

Kanagasabai currently serves as the Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Asia Capital PLC and Chairman of Asia Capital Stockbrokers Ltd. He is also the Chairman of the Board Audit Committees, and an Independent Non-Executive Director of Eswaran Brothers Exports Ltd., People’s Leasing and Finance Company PLC and MainGate Ltd. He also is an Independent Non-Executive Director of Cargills Bank PLC and SPN Impex Ltd.

He was the Chairman of South Asia Textiles Ltd. from January 2021 to 31 May 2021, Chairman of Dankotuwa Porcelain PLC from August 2021 until 31 October 2023, Chairman of the Audit Committee of Union Bank PLC from August 2016 to 31 December 2018, and a Commissioner of the Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka from May 2018 to November 2018 and from December 2018 to November 2019. He was also a Non-Executive Director of Hunter and Company PLC and Lanka Canneries Ltd. from 2017 up to 31 March 2022, and a Director of both Cargills Ceylon PLC and Cargills Food Company Ltd., from 2016 until 31 July 2023. He retired from Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC as an Independent Non-Executive Director after having completed his term of six years on 31 January 2024. 

Prior to taking up several board positions post retirement, he served as the Senior Partner ofPricewaterhouseCoopers, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Having joined the firm in 1981, he held progressively responsible positions before being admitted as a Partner in 1991, following a secondment to the Singapore Firm from June 1988 to May 1990 for training in Information Security.

Kanagasabai is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.

With the latest appointment the Board of Arpico Insurance PLC comprises Chairman Ramal Jasinghe, CEO/Director K. Senanayake, S. Gooneratne, W.D.N. Fernando and Y. Kanagasabai.
