Activity in secondary bond market moderates

Activity in secondary bond markets moderated yesterday with quotes of the liquid maturities of the 2021s (i.e.01.08.21 and 15.12.21), 01.09.23 and 01.08.24 edging up marginally to close the day at 11.12/17, 11.15/18, 11.25/30 and 11.26/30 respectively subsequent to changing hands at levels of 11.15% to 11.16%, 11.14% to 11.18%, 11.22% to 11.27%  and 11.26% to 11.27%.

The total secondary market Treasury bond transacted volume for 5 July 2017 was Rs. 6.27 billion.

Meanwhile, in money markets, the overnight call money and repo rates averaged 8.75% and 8.79% respectively as liquidity in the system stood at a deficit of 6.85 billion. The Open Market Operations (OMO) Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka injected an amount of Rs. 2.00 billion on an overnight basis by way of a Reverse Repo auction at a weighted average rate of 8.75%.

 Rupee remains 

mostly unchanged 

 The USD/LKR rate on spot contracts was seen trading at levels of Rs. 153.67 to Rs. 153.76 yesterday against its previous day’s closing levels of Rs. 153.68/75. The total USD/LKR traded volume for 5 July 2017 was $ 49.50 million.
