Acuity Securities extends reach to Negombo

Acuity Securities Ltd., one of the leading primary dealers for government securities in Sri Lanka, extended its services to Negombo, with the inauguration of its first sales desk/branch. Acuity Securities is a wholly owned subsidiary of Acuity Partners – an investment banking firm jointly own by DFCC Bank and HNB PLC and was licensed as a primary dealer in the year 2000 by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The asset base of the company as at 31 December 2013 stood at Rs. 4.6 billion. As a primary dealer, Acuity Securities specialises in government securities in the form of treasury bills and bonds and also deals in products such as repos, reverse repos and listed corporate debt. The new sales desk/branch is located within the state-of-the-art Negombo Metro Branch of Hatton National Bank. This is part of the company’s strategy of offering unique investment products while offering a specialised and efficient service to the residents in and around Negombo. The inauguration of the sales desk/branch took place recently with the participation of the senior management of Acuity and HNB. Speaking on the occasion, Acuity Securities Ltd Director/CEO Amal Fernando thanked the management of HNB for their support and co-operation extended towards the opening of the sales desk. He stated, “With the new initiatives underway to develop the debt market, Acuity Securities can now offer products such as listed debentures to its clients apart from treasury bills, bonds and repos and Negombo has been selected due to the immense potential the region has to offer. Customers can now enjoy the benefits of investing in these products without having to make a visit to Colombo.” HNB Deputy Head Network Management Jude Fernando emphasised that the people in Negombo can now enjoy the facilities that Acuity Securities has to offer apart from the traditional banking products, all under one single location. The occasion was graced by the senior management team of ASL along with clients and the senior management of HNB including Regional Head of North Western Region Maheswaren, along with HNB Metro Branch Manager Kumar Jeyaraj and other HNB senior managers from branches in the area.
