AG advice still pending over Ceylinco Shriram case

By Lakmal Sooriyagoda The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday informed Court that extracts of the investigations in connection with the Ceylinco Shriram case have been forwarded to the Attorney General for his advice and that it was yet to receive a reply from him over the matter. When the case pertaining Ceylinco Shriram Capital Management Services, in which 11 suspects including former Ceylinco chairman Lalith Kotelawala and his wife Sicille Kotelawala who had been named as suspects, came up before Colombo Fort Magistrate, the CID further informed that it had already concluded the investigations into the matter. Meanwhile, the CID sought a long date for next calling date and thereby, the case was fixed for 12 February next year. In this case, the CID alleged that 11 suspects are assumed to have been defrauded Rs. 7 billion whilst serving the capacity of company directors. 10 suspects, except the wife of former Ceylinco chairman Lalith Kotelawala, are currently out on bail and an arrest warrant written in English through the Interpol has been issued on Sicille Kotelawala, the 11th suspect of the case.
