Airtel introduces insurance plan with SLIC to cover SMEs

Bharti Airtel Lanka, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, in collaboration with Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd. (SLIC), recently launched a special mobile communication plan with an insurance policy which includes life, critical illness and accident covers for the SME sector.

This insurance plan is a unique product, designed and developed taking into consideration the various insurance needs of employees working for various small and medium enterprise organisations. Facilitating Sri Lankan government’s economic policy of developing SMEs, Airtel has stepped forward to contribute to the betterment of this sector. All SMEs purchasing this special plan from Airtel, will receive an insurance cover worth of Rs. 1 million from Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd., which is Sri Lanka’s biggest composite insurance provider. Each employee working for the SMEs registered under this mobile communication plan will also be eligible to receive the Rs. 1 million life insurance cover free of charge, thus making this plan a ‘must have’ product with added benefits for this sector.

The life insurance coverage which is available exclusively to the SMEs with customised Airtel voice and data post-paid plans includes an accident death benefit of Rs. 600,000, a critical illness cover of Rs. 200,000 and a life cover of Rs. 200,000.

Each employee in the SME is eligible for this insurance cover, enabling them to receive substantial financial benefits for an affordable monthly rental of Rs. 500. Under this plan subscribers get 100 minutes free talk time from Airtel to any other network, 50 minutes free talk time from Airtel to Airtel and free SMSs.
