The Board of Directors of Abans Finance Plc has unanimously approved the appointment of Ajith Ratnayake as a Non Executive Independent Director of the Company with effect from 16 May, as approved by the Central Bank.
Ratnayake is the retired founder Director General of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Monitoring Board (SLAASMB) where he served for 15 years. He was responsible for setting up its monitoring process for financial reporting and auditing of public interest entities in Sri Lanka and building its technical capacity.
Throughout his career he has been actively involved in contributing to the accountancy profession both locally and internationally. Prior to setting up the SLAASMB, Ratnayake served in a number of private sector enterprises in Sri Lanka and in multinational companies abroad in diverse positions including as CEO and CFO. In his last assignment before SLAASMB, he headed the project to set up the Finance Division of a joint venture established in Fiji by Vodafone UK.
With the latest appointment, the Board of Directors of Abans Finance Plc comprises R. Pestonjee (Chairman), K.B. Wanigasekara (Managing Director/CEO), C.D. Pathirana, V.K. Choksy and A.S. Ratnayake.
