Allianz Lanka opened its seventh branch in the Northern peninsula, in Chungam, bringing its branch tally to 58 fully-fledged branches located island wide. The past two years saw the company rapidly expanding its presence throughout the island. Nine branches were opened this year (2014) and 18 branches were opened last year (2013). This rapid growth and expansion reflects the company’s change of business model in 2013, to increase focus on developing retail business.

“Our expansion strategy has been a success and our heavy investment on growing the company has paid rich dividends. We are delighted to provide the people of Chunagam with the same financial security enjoyed by our customers in other parts of the peninsula. The North is an important area for us and Chunagam is the most important town in the North, next to Jaffna,” said Allianz Lanka CEO Surekha Alles.
The branch is located No.133, KKS Road, Chunnakum, and is headed by branch Manager Vaishnari Shrivarthanm. Allianz Chunagam is equipped with all facilities for Life and General business and serviced by an experienced team of sales, front office and underwriting professionals trained to internationally benchmarked Allianz standards of customer service and underwriting.
The year saw growth in the Allianz brand as well. Allianz was placed 55th among the world’s top 100 brands by renowned brand consultancy firm Interbrand, at its annual ‘Best Global Brands’ ranking for 2014. The new ranking ups the Allianz brand by eight spots from last year’s ranking and puts it on par with other top global brands such as Google, Samsung and Nike. The Allianz brand is valued at $ 7.7 billion.
Behind the Allianz brand stands a financial services conglomerate that represents strong performances, sound investments, digital innovation, quality products, tailored services, and an employer of choice. The Group has more than Euro 1.8 trillion in assets under management and is ranked within the top 20 of Fortune 500’s listing of top global corporates, over half of whom insure with Allianz. Since 1890, Allianz has provided innovative products to over 80 million customers in more than 70 countries. As its fully owned subsidiary, Allianz Lanka, too, has followed close on the heels of its august parent and achieved many ‘firsts’ that have redefined industry benchmarks in Sri Lanka.
