Amana Bank, Sri Lanka’s premier bank to operate in complete harmony with the principles of Islamic Banking, completed one year of banking operations on 1 August 2012.

The Bank introduced a new way forward to the Sri Lankan banking industry with its unique concept of banking. On reaching this milestone the Bank’s Managing Director/CEO Faizal Salieh said: “We had a successful launch and an eventful 12 months of operations with many key milestones being achieved. I am happy with our progress, though the regulatory ceiling on lending which was imposed on all banks in the beginning of 2012 has stalled our asset growth and affected our profitability. The Bank has brought a new and refreshing change in the way banking is done in Sri Lanka. The confidence placed by our growing number of customers will always be our strength. We now have over 60,000 customers, spread across the geography of our 14 branches. We shall soon increase our network and add more customer conveniences.”  The first year also saw the launch of ‘Prestige Banking’, Amana Bank’s high net-worth banking platform and ‘Saturday Banking’, where the Bank’s door is open on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm for customers in key locations such as the Main Colombo Branch in Kollupitiya, Pettah, Galle, Kandy, and Kattankudy. Amana Bank is sharing the joy of this occasion with its customers by offering special gifts to those who open term investments accounts from 2 to 17 August. All Children’s Savings Accounts opened during the month of Ramazan would also receive a special gift.
