Staying true to the spirit of Takaful, Amãna Takaful PLC once again announced a surplus to its general insurance policyholders. Marking 15 crystalline years in the insurance landscape in Sri Lanka, the Board of Directors awarded a surplus of 15% to be distributed amongst the company’s non-claimant policyholders. As opposed to conventional insurance, the Takaful concept not only benefits claimants but also takes care of non-claimant policyholders. Non-claimant policyholders receive a proportionate share of the surplus from the risk fund at the end of a defined period. By virtue of being a Takaful participant, one becomes a member of the Risk Pool. The Risk Pool meets all claims of the membership among other expenses. In the event of a surplus in the Risk Pool, non-claimants among the participants are entitled to a proportionate share of the surplus. “Being the only pure and pristine Takaful operator in the country, we are very focused in our pursuit to achieve sustainable growth in all aspects through ethical conduct. In doing so, we are delighted to share a surplus for the second consecutive year,” commented Amãna Takaful PLC Chief Executive Officer Fazal Ghaffoor. He added: “In our commitment to serve all communities, we continue to expand our branch network – reaching out to a wider audience in all parts of the Island,” he added. “Whilst thanking our customers for subscribing to the products and services of Amãna Takaful PLC, we also look forward to their valuable patronage in the future. We shall make every endeavour to keep rewards coming your way over the years.” Most recently, Amãna Takaful PLC struck gold, when it was adjudged the Best Islamic Financial Entity in Sri Lanka at the awards ceremony conducted by the Sri Lanka Islamic Business and Finance Industry. ‘Krutha Guna,’ a unique insurance policy designed by Amãna Takaful to take care of the hospitalisation needs of individuals over 55 years of age, received a Gold award for the most ‘Innovative Product of the Year’ at the SLBFI awards. The composite insurer is one of the few ISO certified insurance operators in Sri Lanka and operates in three key strategic business units specialising in Life, General and Medical insurance categories. The company operates in 25 locations in the country and intends to keep expanding. Furthermore, keeping to its tenet of mutuality, the company offers financial protection through the Takaful concept to those in need with ‘Navodhaya’ – ATPLC’s micro-Takaful insurance solution.
