Amãna Takaful PLC made history when it re-launched its dynamic new web portal giving all Sri Lankans access to its array of online insurance solutions at their fingertips, a first in the local insurance industry.

The website, www.takaful.lk, was ceremoniously launched by Tyeab Akberally, Chairman, Amãna Takaful, along with Fazal Ghaffoor, CEO in the presence of the Board of Directors, senior managers and staff of the company.

Commenting on the launch M.S.M. Iqbal, Head of IT, Amãna Takaful stated: “This marks another milestone in our eventful history and future growth plans. This will also enable us to improve our business model using technology. The technology used for the website makes it compatible with any device including mobile phones and tablet PCs. We are proud to be the first in Sri Lanka’s insurance industry to offer an interactive website, which provides convenience to policyholders and potential customers in this fast-paced world.”

Amãna Takaful, through its web portal, offers customers a wide range of on-line services that include tracking of motor claims, renewal of motor insurance policies, notification of motor accidents, payment of Life and General insurance premiums, purchasing of travel policies, generating life and general quotations and updating personal contact details.

One of the perennial problems that has plagued the industry has been servicing motor claims. This new feature, will to a great extent, eliminate frustration and provide the transparency needed to keep the claimant informed of the status of his/her claim. It will also save time by eliminating the need to communicate with the insurance company to find out the status of the claim. The company feels this will benefit both the corporate and individual sectors alike.

“Amãna Takaful is leading the way for the insurance industry by introducing on-line services. We are keen to partner with the Government’s efforts to take Sri Lanka’s ICT capabilities to the next level. In line with this thinking, our website is built for the discerning, technologically friendly customer. It is interactive and functional, allowing customers to carry out transactions on the go. Amãna Takaful is also very active on social media, building relationships through digital platforms. We intend to relate to the customer of the future and are taking steps to provide an integrated and digitally enabled platform to interact and transact business with us,” said Fazal Ghaffoor.

He added: “Being in the financial service industry we are fully integrated island wide and always looking for ways to better our service delivery at customer touch points. In this endeavour IT plays a key role.”

The launch event saw clients who were invited as special guests transacting business on the web portal to demonstrate the new features. The opportunity was used to demonstrate the ease with which transactions can be carried out on-line in a matter of minutes. Accordingly, a motor insurance policy renewal, claim status inquiry and life premium payments were made online within the span of less than 10 minutes.
