The Association of Professional Bankers – Sri Lanka (APB) was formed in 1988 by a group of dedicated senior bankers, is the premier professional body in Sri Lanka for the professional serving in the financial services industry.
The principal objectives of APB include: to undertake, promote and facilitate studies in the field of banking and allied subjects, to plan and organise teaching and training programs in the field of banking, knowledge management: the new challenge in managing human resource in banking, to promote and safeguard the common interests of the profession and to promote fellowship and understanding among members of the association.
APB contributed immensely to the industry during the past years to promote and upgrade the knowledge and skills of financial services professionals in Sri Lanka.
2013 is a memorable year for APB as it celebrates its silver jubilee this year. To commemorate the 25th anniversary, a series of events have been organised by the association, including Buddhist, Hindu, Christian and Islam religious activities and a blood donation campaign in addition to the 25th anniversary convention to be held later this year.
The second activity organised to celebrate the silver jubilee of APB was a bodhi pooja followed by bana sermon delivered by Venerable Thalalle Chandakiththi Thero, which was held at the Sri Sambodhi Viharaya, R.G. Senanayake Mawatha, Colombo 7, on 26 July 2013 on the topic ‘Attributes of a noble person’.
Both the bodhi pooja and bana sermon were telecasted live through The Buddhist Channel to evoke blessings on the association, its past and present members and their families including the deceased members, national war heroes, and the entire nation. Members of staff from all banks participated to make this memorable event a great success.
