APB holds religious ceremony at St. Anthony’s Church

The Association of Professional Bankers – Sri Lanka (APB) commemorates its 25th anniversary this year and a number of religious ceremonies and other events were conducted as part of the silver jubilee celebrations. A religious ceremony was held at St. Anthony’s Church Colpetty with attendees from banks and well-wishers.

Rev Father N. Manokumaran, Parish Priest, during the sermon, highlighted the importance of professionalism in any industry which is an essential hallmark of success. Although conflicts are bound to arise when working with colleagues, he urged the congregation to work in harmony with each other, especially in their workplaces. The religious ceremony ended with a fellowship at the Parish Hall, which saw bankers of diverse backgrounds exchanging ideas and enjoying each other’s company. The Buddhist and Islamic religious ceremonies were also held in Colombo and the Hindu ceremony was held at the Nallur Kovil in Jaffna which was followed by a quiz competition, a lecture, fellowship and dinner. A blood donation campaign was held at Ratnapura followed by a lecture, fellowship and dinner. All these events were a great success and a large number of bankers and well-wishers participated in these events. The Association of Professional Bankers, Sri Lanka established in 1988 is the most representative organisation of banking professionals in the Island and functions as a forum that brings together leading personalities in business administration and intellectuals for discussions on contemporary banking issues. The APB has also organised a colourful anniversary convention to be held on 8 and 9 October 2013 at The Kingsbury, Colombo, which will be graced by renowned personalities from the banking or financial services sector both locally and overseas and attended by a large gathering of bankers.
