Arjuna Mahendran: A reply to T. Malawatantri

It may not be even worth the internet time to reply to Malawatantri. But we the public as taxpayers have the right to protest against bad appointments like Arjuna Mahendran.

For a start, even the common man now undesghrstands that the February bond issue was corrupt and disastrous for Sri Lanka. The former Governor has said the loss up to date is Rs. 8 billion. What is Malawatantri’s response to that? The former Governor is corrupt. Why has he not been tried yet?

The EPF in 2011 lost Rs. 12 billion according to the Auditor General’s report. What is Arjuna Mahendran doing about that? The people are still in the Central Bank. He cannot investigate because his son in-law was involved in those transactions. These facts are on many public websites. Please write and defend Arjuna Mahendran on that subject also.

You say Arjuna Mahendran was in a State institution and there was State interference. He was a political appointee of the UNF Government as BOI Chairman, like the same way he was appointed as Governor. There was no merit, a backdoor appointment. As for his performance in the BOI, do a bit of research on the internet and you will know how well he performed.

Don’t try to compare Mahinda Rajapaksa to Sarath Fonseka. If not for Mahinda Rajapaksa, we would have lost Sri Lanka by now. He got 5.4 million votes after nine years. Stop being a stooge of the powers and focus on the truth.

Whatever you may say Malawatantri, Arjuna Mahendran is not a fit and proper person to be the Governor of the Central Bank. To me he has become another Lakshman Hulugalle. President Sirisena does not need advice from you or me; he is a veteran politician. Arjuna Mahendran is only damaging his good name. Thank you to the Daily FT for fair reporting.
