BDO has announced a continuation of its US member firm’s aggressive expansion strategy through the addition of more than 250 staff, including 24 partners, from three different firms. More than 100 staff, including 6 partners, will be joining BDO USA, LLP from Anchorage-based, Mikunda, Cottrell & Company, the largest accounting firm in Alaska. An additional 60 staff, including 6 partners, will be joining BDO from Moquist Thorvilson Kaufmann, LLC (MTK), a leading firm in the Minneapolis market. The USA BDO Member Firm has also added more than 95 employees, including 12 partners, formerly with the banking practice of ParenteBeard. BDO international network CEO Martin van Roekel is extremely pleased by the news of this three-part expansion to the network’s USA firm. “The addition of these three quality firms marks a continuing strengthening of BDO USA and the furtherance of its ambition to grow from firm financial foundations. Together with other firms in BDO, our USA firm is demonstrating its desire to lead the inevitable consolidation of mid-tier accounting networks from a position of strength, and I congratulate all concerned.” Auckland chartered accounting and business advisory network member firms BDO and PKF Ross Melville have announced their pending merger, creating a strong new mid-market force offering full taxation, audit and advisory services. Under the BDO brand, the newly merged firm will continue to be based in the Auckland CBD, East Tamaki and Takapuna. Total staff will increase to 250 plus 26 partners. The merged entity creates the largest accounting firm operating on the North Shore. As a result BDO’s presence in New Zealand will increase to over 800 people including 86 partners. BDO Auckland Managing Partner Simon Peacocke says BDO recognises that growth is critical to responding quickly and effectively to changing domestic and international markets and increased regulatory requirements. “The Auckland merger brings together two mid-market brands that enjoy cultural and client service synergies along with international connections. It’s transforming BDO’s market presence with more solutions backed by expanded technical and industry sector expertise.”
