The Clearing Association of Bankers (CAB) held its seventh Annual General Meeting recently at HNB Auditorium, HNB Towers, Colombo 10.

This special event was attended by Ananda Silva, former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Channa De Silva, Chairperson of Lanka Clear Ltd., Lanka Clear officials, chief operating officers, deputy general managers, heads of the clearing departments of all commercial banks, the members of CAB and other distinguished guests. The AGM and the fellowship drew good support from the principal sponsor, AB Securitas Ltd.

This Association was formed in 2008 with the objective of “enhancing the knowledge of bankers as well as to promote goodwill, understanding and fellowship among bankers engaged in clearing.”

Last year too it was able to fulfill this objective by holding the much-awaited Inter Bank Quiz program and the famous Inter Bank Softball Cricket tournament with impressive participation. On the success of these events CAB was able to build up its membership to a greater extent.

Upul de Silva of People’s Bank was re-elected as the President.
