MJF on why he invested in Cargills Bank; wants venture fund to help SMEsMerril J. Fernando, the Chairman MJF Group of Companies, the second largest shareholder with a 10% stake in Cargills Bank told the opening of Maitland Crescent Branch: “As an investor, I am very scrupulous about my investments and Cargills Bank was a well thought of decision I’ve made.” “Banks need to put the customer’s well-being ahead of any other motive. We need to contribute towards the development and advancement of the small entrepreneurs. I’m confident that the bank will initiate and create a small venture capital fund initially to cater to small upcoming entrepreneurs,” Fernando said. “I am convinced that Cargills Bank’s focus on customer well-being is very positive. I’m happy to see the bank has opened its third branch within a short time span and I’m confident that future expansion plans of the bank will greatly benefit the citizens of Sri Lanka,” he added. |
