Leading Sri Lankan insurer, Ceylinco Insurance, has inked a deal with Dialog Axiata to obtain mobile payment solutions which turns a smartphone or tablet into a mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) terminal, allowing its sales teams to collect premiums via credit or debit cards on the go. Dialog together with Global Payments Asia-Pacific Ltd. (Global Payments) launched the first mPOS solution in August 2013 – the first of its kind in Sri Lanka. This award-winning mobile payment solution enables merchants to accept card payments beyond a counter-top sales environment and wherever business takes them within Sri Lanka. This mobile payment solution will help Ceylinco Insurance to quickly and easily establish a means to accept MasterCard and Visa card payments through a smartphone or tablet. A free app provided by Global Payments is downloaded to the mobile device which connects to a secure card reader to start accepting card payments instantly. It is compatible with both iOS and Android devices and comes with multi-level security measures to protect customer data from being stored on the card reader or the phone. Dialog now offers both iOS and Android mobile phone devices at an affordable price and a special data package with attractive rates for the mPOS solution. “We recognise the power of mobile technology to be an incredibly valuable channel to provide convenient, secure and easily accessible services to make our customers’ lives easier,” Ceylinco Insurance General Director/Deputy CEO Patrick Alwis said. This hassle-free and cost-effective mobile, card acceptance service helps merchants on the go such as businesses with mobile sales force; home delivery services and outdoor sales operations to capture instant purchases. Customers can also enjoy added payment convenience as they can now make card payments easily and quickly anywhere cards were previously not accepted. Dialog is the first telecommunications provider in the country to adopt this new technology for their mobile sales team. Other businesses can also sign up for this new service through Dialog or Global Payments. “Following the success of the launch of mPOS solution in Sri Lanka, we are delighted to announce our partnership with Ceylinco Insurance - General, one of the largest insurance providers in Sri Lanka,” Dialog Axiata PLC Senior General Manager – Mobile Money and Payments Fariq Cader said.
