Ceylinco Insurance invited to AIRDC Executive Board

Ceylinco Insurance, Sri Lanka’s leading Insurer, has been honoured with the invitation to represent Sri Lanka on the Executive Board of the prestigious Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Developing Countries (AIRDC).



The Executive Board of AIRDC constitutes of 15 representatives of full member nations.     

The Association of Insurers and Reinsurers of Developing Countries (AIRDC) was formally established during the second Third World Insurance Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1980. A non-political and a non-governmental  organisation whose members come from insurance or reinsurance entities, the AIRDC is domestically incorporated and owned by nations, bodies  or organisations of developing countries.

The Association’s principle objective is to develop and expand international collaboration and cooperation in the fields of insurance and reinsurance of every kind.

Among its objectives are to strengthen the insurance market in developing countries and to foster inter-regional cooperation within the insurance industry.

Towards that end, the Association  helps its member organisations  in gathering, processing and exchanging of statistical data and information, share experiences and expertise relating to the insurance industry, develop  programs  of insurance education and research on common problems in the insurance market, implement concrete means of technical cooperation  as well as co-operate with public and private entities and with associations and regional organisations devoted to the promotion of the insurance industry in different parts of the world.

Member nations of  AIRDC  include countries  such as  Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam from Asia ,  Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Seychelles, Zambia and Zaire representing African continent, Belize, Colombia, Cuba and Uruguay

representing Latin America among many others.    

Ceylinco Insurance is also a member of the Afro-Asian Association of Insurers which represents leading and recognised insurance companies in the continents of Asia and Africa.

In keeping with its leadership role within the industry, Ceylinco Insurance had ventured out and formed several strategic alliances outside Sri Lanka, which has strengthened its status as a proudly Sri Lankan company that has gone global.

Ceylinco Insurance has maintained a strong presence in the Middle East in United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar through these strategic alliances. Joint ventures formed in Nepal and the Maldives have reinforced the company’s image as a key regional and a global player in the international insurance industry.
