Chartered Insurer Asoka Sirisena, Senior Assistant General Manager - Technical at Ceylinco Life, has been awarded Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Insurance of UK (FCII), universally regarded as the premier qualification for those working in the insurance industry. The FCII status signifies that its holder has taken the commitment to professional development implied by Associate status (ACII) one stage further, demonstrating Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through a major achievement and planned acquisition of skills and knowledge. Sirisena, who has been with Ceylinco Life for 10 years and counts 20 years of experience in the industry, has been an Associate of the CII since 2004 and was conferred Chartered Insurer status in 2008. “Professional development has always been one of the cornerstones of Ceylinco Life’s success, and the company is delighted to have its first FCII in its senior ranks,” Ceylinco Life’s Managing Director/CEO R. Renganathan said. “As a company that is entrusted with the protection of nearly a million families against the uncertainties of the future, we believe it is our duty to ensure that our employees are truly committed to best practices in the industry and there can be no better demonstration of this than FCII status.” An old boy of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala, Asoka Sirisena has an MBA from Sikkim Manipal University of India, has accumulated numerous qualifications in the field of insurance, including a diploma in medical underwriting, and has undergone career-related training in Germany, London and Hong Kong. He currently serves as Assistant Secretary of the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute, the premier body promoting insurance education in Sri Lanka. Ceylinco Life presently employs 12 ACII qualified insurance professionals, the highest number among all life insurance companies operating in Sri Lanka. All of them have received the institute’s ‘Chartered Insurer’ or ‘Chartered Insurance Practitioner’ designation, as each has well over the required five years of industry experience. Independently rated one of Sri Lanka’s most valuable brands, Ceylinco Life has maintained its leadership of the country’s long term insurance sector from 2004 onwards. The company operates the largest branch network among local life insurance companies, and has won multiple international and local awards for its commitment to the community and success in brand equity building.
