Colombo provided an educational and fun-filled experience to 250 children from all districts of Sri Lanka when the inaugural Ceylinco Life ‘Ran Daru Charika’ took place last week. The children, each accompanied by a parent were greeted by Ceylinco Life officials at ‘Diyatha Uyana’ in Battaramulla and began their excursion after a colourful ceremony. They visited the National Museum, the BMICH, Colombo University, Nelum Pokuna, and Independence Square and had a one-hour session at the Planetarium. Ceylinco Life provided meals and refreshments and also arranged transport to and from Colombo and where necessary, overnight accommodation for children travelling from distant areas for this latest community engagement activity. Speaking at the ceremony at Diyatha Uyana, Ceylinco Life’s Managing Director/CEO R. Renganathan said: “This is an educational excursion for children. This tour will provide them an opportunity to witness the rapid development in Colombo. We are happy that children across the island including the north and east have participated in this program.” He said that the company had received more than 107,000 coupons within the two months period of the promotion was conducted, out of which the 250 participants were drawn. Selecting winners for this tour was linked to the company’s annual distribution of school timetables country-wide. Each timetable had a detachable coupon to be filled in and returned to the nearest Ceylinco Life branch. Ceylinco Life also presented 750 attractive consolation prizes for children who applied and did not get selected to join Randaru Charika. Independently rated one of Sri Lanka’s most valuable brands, Ceylinco Life has maintained its leadership of the country’s long term insurance sector from 2004 onwards. The company operates the largest branch network among local life insurance companies, and has won multiple international and local awards for its commitment to the community and success in brand equity building.
