Changes to Pan Asia Bank Board of Directors

Pan Asia Bank recently announced of two changes to its Board of Directors. 

Eshana De Silva who served as a board member for nine years out of which the last year as the Chairman of the bank stepped down recently as per Central Bank directions on good corporate governance and G.A R.D. Prasanna who has served as a director of the bank since 2012 took over as the Chairman.Untitled-5

In addition, the experienced banking professional Aravinda Perera was appointed as a Board Director with effect from 3 August.

The new Chairman G.A R.D. Prasanna is an experienced business professional who was appointed to Pan Asia Bank as a Director in 2012. He is the Chairman of Grandmark Ltd. and is the Managing Director of Wise Property Solutions Ltd. He also serves as a Director on the Boards of Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC, Royal Porcelain Ltd., Rocell Bathware Ltd., Delmege Forsyth & Co. (Shipping) Ltd., Country Energy Ltd., La Fortresse Ltd., Delmege Forsyth & Co. (Exports) Ltd., Delmege Insurance Brokers Ltd., Rocell Properties Ltd., Delmege Coir Ltd., Delship Services Ltd., Delmege Freight Services Ltd., Delmege Air Services Ltd., Lewis Brown Air Services Ltd., Hayley’s Global Beverages Ltd., Lanka Tiles PLC. 

Aravinda Perera counts over 30 years in the banking sector and functioned as the Managing Director of Sampath Bank PLC from 1 January 2012, until his retirement in September 2016. 

Presently he is the Managing Director of Royal Ceramics Lanka PLC. 

He is the Chairman of Siyapatha Finance Ltd. and is a Director of SC Securities Ltd., Lanka Bangla Finance Ltd. in Bangladesh, Colombo Stock Exchange, Hayleys PLC, Hayleys Industrial Solutions Ltd., Fentons Ltd. and Hayleys Advantis Ltd. 

He is a former Director of Lanka Financial Services Bureau, Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka and Lanka Clear Ltd.

He is also a former Governing Board Member of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and Past President of Association of Professional Bankers, Sri Lanka.

He was the Co-chair of National Agenda Committee on Finance and Capital of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and member of National Payment Council. 

He is a Member of the Institute of Engineers (Sri Lanka) (MIESL) and a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.). He is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) (FCMA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers – Sri Lanka (FIB). He holds an MBA from the Post Graduate Institute of Management.

Perera was honoured with the ‘CEO Leadership Achievement Award 2016’ by the Asian Banker and was the recipient of the prestigious ‘Platinum Honours – 2014’ Award by the Postgraduate Institute of Management Alumni (PIMA) of Sri Jayawardenapura University. He was also honoured with the ‘Award for the Outstanding Contribution to the Banking Industry – 2015’ by the Association of Professional Bankers.
