Two of Sri Lanka’s dynamic private sector companies CIC Agri Businesses and Aviva NDB Insurance have teamed up to provide life insurance policies to thousand farmers recently.
The life insurance policy will provide the farmers with a cash benefit of Rs.75,000 in the event of death and a further Rs.15,000 as funeral expenses.
If death is due to an Accident the benefit will be Rs. 150,000. The policy will also provide Rs. 500 per day as hospitalisation charges. The premium for the policy is only Rs. 100 per month and CIC Agri Businesses has agreed to pay up the premium on behalf of the farmers. Initially one thousand farmers mainly from the North Central Province were handed over life insurance policies.
