CIMA Tax course: New modules introduced

Given the changing trend of taxes, CIMA has restructured its taxation course to meet these developments. Among the modules are: Income tax including amendments to date, VAT, Principles of double taxation and Tax incentives/BOI (SDP, HUB concept) under the Inland Revenue act, Land restrictions, Share transaction levy, Construction industry guarantee fund levy, PAL and Fundamentals of tax concepts ( transfer pricing, thin capitalisation, Tax on Islamic financing, custom and excise duties). Budget 2015 and Inland Revenue Amendments up to No. 18 of 2013 will also be discussed. The annual ‘Taxation’ course organised by CIMA Sri Lanka helps its students, members and various other professionals from around the country to keep abreast with the changing market trends and has been successfully run for over three decades. The program will commence on Sunday 15 March and run for 10 Sundays. Participants have the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of Sri Lanka taxation from experts in the industry. The main attraction this year will be the discussion in detail of the proposed amendments to the Inland Revenue Act brought in by Budget 2015. Most sought after speakers in the field such as Mervyn Weerasooriya, former Commissioner General, Department of Inland Revenue; Dhammika Gunatilleke, Deputy Commissioner General (Tax Policy), Department of Inland Revenue; Suresh R.I. Perera, Principal Tax and Regulatory, KPMG Sri Lanka will comprise the faculty. Registrations for the program are now open.
