The ATM network of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon has connected its milestone 500th terminal, further consolidating its status as the largest electronic cash dispensing system owned by a single bank in Sri Lanka.
This landmark was reached with the opening of an ATM at Maradana Railway Station. Commercial Bank’s ATM network has grown rapidly, adding 100 terminals in the past five months.
The 500th ATM machine was ceremonially commissioned by Commercial Bank Chief Information Officer Rohan Muttiah in the presence of Railways General Manager B.A.P. Ariyaratne.
On average, the bank’s ATM network dispenses approximately Rs. 600 million daily, the highest volume by a cash dispensing facility in Sri Lanka, and processes on average 140,000 transactions a day. The bank’s ATMs also hold the top spot in terms of reliability, with the highest ‘up-time’ according to statistics.
“Our transaction figures speak for themselves,” said Rohan Muttiah, Chief Information Officer of Commercial Bank.
“They prove that the Commercial Bank’s ATM network plays an important part in the lives of the citizens of the country, and are also testimony to the reliability of the equipment and the high quality of our maintenance.”
Located in every district of the country, especially in the vicinity of major cities, Commercial Bank teller machines are installed at 213 branches of the bank as well as at 100 conveniently accessible off-site locations.
In addition to facilitating withdrawals, the bank’s ATM machines enable convenient settlement of water and electricity bills, bills of Dialog, Mobitel, Etisalat, Hutch and Lanka Bell networks, and Commercial Bank Credit Card payments 24-hours a day, 365-days of the year.
The bank’s network of teller machines is also linked with millions of ATMs across the world.
ATM cum Shopping Debit cardholders of the bank can withdraw up to Rs. 40,000 on a single instance if funds are available in their accounts. Commercial Bank offers customers the option of increasing their daily withdrawal limit up to Rs. 100,000.
Commercial Bank ATMs also support the networks of Mastercard, Maestro, Cirrus, Visa, Plus, Amex, Discover and Diner’s Club thus enabling tourists and other visitors to Sri Lanka to withdraw money from their overseas accounts for spending in the country.
The only Sri Lankan bank to be listed among the top 1,000 Banks in the world, Commercial Bank operates 213 online and real time linked branches, service points and supermarket banking counters in the country.
The bank has been adjudged ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka’ for 13 consecutive years by ‘Global Finance’ Magazine and has won multiple awards as the country’s best bank from ‘FinanceAsia,’ ‘Euromoney’ and ‘Trade Finance’ magazines.
