Commercial Bank to open 59 branches on Haj festival day

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has announced that 59 branches and service points will be kept open for business on Id-Ul-Alha (Haj festival day), Wednesday, 16 October for the convenience of the bank’s customers. While the bank’s 33 Supermarket Banking Centres and seven 365-day branches will work their customary hours, another 19 branches will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on that day, which is a statutory public and bank holiday, the bank said. These 19 branches are Wellawatte, Kollupitiya, Kotahena, Maharagama, Borella, Nugegoda, Narahenpita, Battaramulla, Panchikawatte, Union Place, Wattala, Dehiwela, Moratuwa, Nittambuwa, Kiribathgoda, Avissawella, Piliyandala, the Foreign Branch and Main Street (Colombo 1). Commercial Bank’s 365-day branches are located at Colombo 7, Negombo, Galle City, Kandy City, Kurunegala, Katunayake and Jaffna. The Katunayake branch is open 24 hours. “The practice of opening branches in key areas on public holidays which we began several years ago has now come to be expected by our customers, who greatly appreciate the commitment it represents,” Commercial Bank’s Chief Manager Operations Priyanthi Perera said. “This is yet another example of how Commercial Bank goes the extra mile for its customers,” she added. The largest private bank in Sri Lanka, Commercial Bank is the only Sri Lankan bank to be ranked among the world’s top 1000 banks for three successive years. The bank operates a network of 232 branches and service points in Sri Lanka and an ATM network of 576 terminals, the largest cash dispensing facility operated in the country by a single bank. Adjudged ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka’ for 15 consecutive years by ‘Global Finance’ Magazine Commercial Bank has also won multiple awards as the country’s best bank from ‘The Banker,’ ‘FinanceAsia,’ ‘Euromoney’ and ‘Trade Finance’ magazines.
