Hot on the heels of the launch of its advanced online banking service, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon has unveiled a revamped corporate website to enhance the experience of visitors as well as on-line customers. Combining rich content and modern design, the re-designed website enables even easier navigation than before, and offers a range of improved features.
The new website which can be accessed via the site’s original address www.combank.lk was formally re-launched by Jegan Durairatnam, Director/COO of Commercial Bank.
Among the improved features of the website are the ‘search’ function that enables users to find information on the website through keywords or phrases, a facility to download application forms related to loans, account opening, deposits and similar requirements, ‘loan calculators’ related to specific products and details on interest rates for deposits and loans. The site also offers news blogs, foreign exchange rates, an easy to find locator for Commercial Bank’s holiday banking centres and 365-day banking centres, branches that offer extended banking hours and supermarket banking centres.
“The re-design of the site was based on research findings which helped us to identify the most visited areas and pages of the site,” said Hasrath Munasinghe, the bank’s Deputy General Manager – Marketing. “We have made them more accessible by positioning them on the main page and on other specific pages. We have also studied the viewing patterns and visitor profiles and benchmarked the new site against the most technologically advanced international websites.”
The site also provides access to Commercial Bank’s sophisticated online banking facility.
Commercial Bank’s website enjoys one of the highest ratings within most of the popular search engines, in searches for banking facilities. It is the most popular bank website in Sri Lanka, averaging over 600,000 named searches annually from Google Search according to Google statistics. About 75% of the visitors are from Sri Lanka while the others are from countries such as Australia, the UK, USA and UAE.
The largest private bank in Sri Lanka, Commercial Bank is the only Sri Lankan bank to be listed two years consecutively in the world’s Top 1,000 Banks. The bank operates a network of 227 service points in Sri Lanka and a network of 556 ATMs, the single largest ATM network operated by a bank in the island.
It also operates 17 service points in Bangladesh. The bank has been adjudged ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka’ for 14 consecutive years by ‘Global Finance’ magazine, and has won multiple awards as the country’s best bank from ‘The Banker,’ ‘FinanceAsia,’ ‘Euromoney’ and ‘Trade Finance’ magazines.
