Deepthi Lokuarachchi has been appointed as the Managing Director of HNB Assurance Plc and HNB General Insurance Ltd., in addition to being CEO.
The appointment is effective from 26 May and is subject to Insurance Board of Sri Lanka approval.
He was appointed as CEO on 2 May 2016.
Deepthi counts over two and half decades of professional experience in the fields of general management, distribution and risk management and overall operations management.
He began his career at Eagle Insurance where he held various key positions including General Manager Distribution and Risk Management. Advancing in his career he moved to AIG insurance where held the position of Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer in charge of Sri Lankan and Maldivian Operations. He also served as the CEO of Orient Insurance Sri Lanka and CEO of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation prior to joining HNB Assurance. He is also the current President of the Insurance Association of Sri Lanka and former President of Sri Lanka Insurance Institute.
He is a Law graduate from the University of Colombo and is also a holder of an Advance Diploma in Insurance (ACII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute UK. In addition to these academic qualifications he is also a qualified Attorney and a Chartered Insurance Risk Manager.
