DFCC Vardhana Bank launches ‘Global Traveller’s Card’

DFCC Vardhana Bank (DVB) the fastest growing commercial bank in Sri Lanka announced the launch of a unique “stored value” card, the ‘Global Traveller’s Card’ the hassle free alternative to traveller’s cheques (TCs) and foreign currency used by travellers. Speaking of the Global Traveller’s Card, DFCC Vardhana Bank CEO Lakshman Silva stated: “Globalisation has made travel increasingly important, whether it be for business, leisure, education or to visit ones loved ones. We at DVB recognised that our customers needed a safe, simple and easy alternate to carrying their cash when travelling abroad. That’s why we decided to issue the Global Traveller’s Card, a unique yet very practical way of carrying the funds you need when on an overseas trip.” “The Global Traveller’s Card offers total convenience to travellers going abroad with a host of inbuilt features, for instance it allows them to withdraw local currency from any country they visit, or directly pay for goods and services through the 2.1 Million ATMs and 31 Million POS terminals linked to the Visa International Network. “The ability load up in commonly used currencies such as US dollars or GBP and being able to draw in local currencies eliminates the need to carry multiple currencies and running to exchange houses. “Further the cross currency exchange rates applied remain constant and reliable no matter where the transaction takes place as the rates are regulated by Visa International. The card offers travellers an easy and convenient solution anywhere in the world ensuring the safety of their funds. “With the six year validity period, a backup card can be issued with a separate pin in the event of a loss or damage of the first card to ensure that our customers travel conveniences are always met.’’ DVB Senior Manager Cards Gemunu Gunasumana added: “Besides the convenience and safety, we offer a free travel insurance cover with each Global Traveller’s Card which ensures that the GTC holder remains protected at all times against unforeseen financial expenses throughout his period of travel.” DVB customers can top up their card and encash it to any local currency of the country travelled to at the best cross country conversion rates. With a strong VISA global network at hand, Global Traveller’s Card holders can use over 2 million ATM’s and 16 million merchant outlets with an option of choosing their foreign currency from USD, Sterling Pounds or the Euro. Customers can visit any of the 135 DVB branches island wide, fill in an application form with their passport and airline ticket to obtain a Global Traveller’s Card. Further, customers will have a dedicated 24-hour helpline, 2 008 888 to assist them at all times with an SMS alert service to inform the cardholder of any unauthorised use of the card.
