DIMO wins 1st place for Best Integrated Annual Report in South Asia

Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) recently achieved another recognition for its widely acclaimed Annual Report. 

DIMO’s 2015/16 Annual Report was adjudged as the Winner in the Integrated Reporting category, at the SAFA (South Asian Federation of Accountants) Best Presented Annual Report Awards 2015, beating many other annual reports from SAARC Countries.

The SAFA BPA (Best Presented Annual Reports) Award is considered as the most prestigious accolade for financial reporting in the South Asian region and signifies SAFA’s recognition and reward for organisations in the region which have achieved excellence in presentation and disclosure of high quality, relevant, reliable and objective financial statements in accordance to the framework stipulated by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). This is held annually since 1996 in one of the SAFA member countries.

Judging for the SAFA BPA awards involves the scrutiny of annual reports nominated by the accounting bodies in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka which are appraised under different categories on the basis of evaluation administered by SAFA’s committee for improvement in transparency, accountability and governance in an annual report. The awards ceremony was held on 27 January at Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Moreover, DIMO was also adjudged the 2nd runner up in the Diversified Holdings category.

Moreover, DIMO has consecutively won the top award for Integrated Reporting in Sri Lanka since 2012/13 from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), the year the category was introduced to CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards. This recognition stands testament to DIMO’s longstanding corporate commitment to transparency and accountability to its stakeholders.

DIMO has been a pioneer of Integrated Reporting in Sri Lanka and is the only Sri Lankan entity to have been a part of the International Integrated Reporting Committee’s pilot program leading to the establishment of the Integrated Reporting Framework.
