Evening presentation on ‘Introduction to the stock market’

An interactive session on the ‘Introduction to the stock market’ was held at the Grand Monarch hotel, Thalawathugoda on Friday 24 January for the benefit of the TMC Mt.Lavinia members and their associates. The session was conducted by First Capital Equities Limited Director/CEO

Seedantha Kulatilake who is also a member of TMC – Mount Lavinia. The informative session covered key areas that are important for a new entrant to the stock market such as Stock Market Basics, Overview of trading, functions of investment research, Investment risks and How to select your Investment Advisor. Topics covered gave an insight into the benefits of investing in stocks and also the pitfalls that an investor should be vary of. The presenter also explained the difference between investing and speculating and how a potential investor should make the right choices depending on one’s risk appetite. TMC members and their friends were keen to derive the best from the opportunity and was seen asking many interesting questions to satisfy their concerns. The audience was enthusiastic about the topic and seems to have enjoyed the session which added a new vista to their knowledge in

investing in the stock market. Many of the participants were grateful for the organisers for initiating and conducting such an event. The evening ended with a fellowship. TMC – Mount Lavinia plans to host such evenings once a month during 2014 and all TMC Members are cordially invited to attend such evenings to enhance the knowledge and also to network among other fellow members.
