Ex-banker Somaratne appointed to The Finance Board

Senior banker A.L. Somaratne has been appointed to the Board of The Finance PLc as a Non Executive Director. Somaratne is a banker with over 35 years experience in project finance, corporate finance, investment banking, SME and micro finance. He was former Vice President of NDB Bank, Program Advisor at International Finance Corporation, CEO of Nationwide Microbank, Papua New Guinea, General Manager of SPBD Microfinance Fiji and Transformation Advisor to the largest MFI in East Timor.

He also has held directorships in several public and private companies during his tenure at NDB Bank. Somaratne has a BSc (Hons) in Business Administration and MA in Economics. He is also an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants (ACMA), UK. With the latest appointment, the Board of Directors of The Finance Comprises of S.H.A.M. Abeyratne (Chairman), Sujeewa Rajapaksa (Deputy Chairman), A.P. Lekamge (Managing Director), T.B. Ekanayake, T. Senthilverl, Rohantha Athukorala, R.D. Abeywickrama and A.L. Somaratne.
