Halal World, the magazine which was launched a year ago has, in partnership with UTO EduConsult and KPMG, will hold the first ever Islamic Banking Industry Awards in July.
It has made this initiative to recognise mainly the many players in the IBF industry for their contribution towards its growth.
Halal World focuses on the different segments of the Halal industry including Islamic banking and finance, food and beverages, education and lifestyle and travel and tourism.
A spokesman said given that the IBF industry in Sri Lanka has been in existence for more than a decade and has metamorphosed into a significant sector in the Financial Services industry, the team at Halal World feels the need to recognise the greatest contributions made, on an individual as well as an institutional level. The inaugural awards will be presented at the fourth SLIBFC (Sri Lanka Islamic Finance and Banking Conference) on 17 July at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo.
The Award Categories for which nominations have been called for are, Islamic Finance Entity of the Year, Emerging Islamic Finance Entity of the Year, Rising Islamic Finance Personality of the Year , Islamic Finance Deal/Product of the Year and Social Upliftment Award. In addition to these awards which will be adjudged based on the nominations received, the award for Islamic finance brand excellence will be awarded to the IF entity with the most popular IF Brand, where the winner will be adjudged by an opinion poll of the general public.
In order to ensure an impartial evaluation process conducted with total discretion and confidentiality, KPMG, The Knowledge Partner of this event, will independently conduct and adjudicate on the awards on behalf of UTO EduConsult (Pvt) Ltd.
