Five new directors have been appointed to the Asian Alliance Insurance Board following the acquisition of control by Softlogic Holdings Group.
The new appointees are Softlogic Holdings Chairman Ashok Pathirage, T.M. Iftikar Ahamed, Sujeewa Rajapakse, Ranil P. Pathirana and Suraj N. Fernando.
Their appointment follows the resignation of Mano Nanayakkara, S.A. Abeysinghe, R. J. Wickramasinghe, Daya Muthukumarana andValantine Silva Jr. who represented the previous owners Asia Capital Plc. The appointment of D.P. Pieris as the alternate director to Nanayakkara has been revoked as well.
Pathirage is the co-founded Softlogic in 1991 and has served the Softlogic Group as the managing director from the inception. He was appointed as the chairman of the Group in 2000 and is also the chairman and managing director of the Ash Group of Hospitals. He is the Chairman of Softlogic Capital Limited and Softlogic Finance PLC. He also serves as the Deputy Chairman on the Board of the National Development Bank PLC.
Fernando is the treasured asset of the Softlogic Group since he joined in 2009 as an Executive Director. Fernando is in charge of the Groups Special Projects. He leverages his many years of experience as a Managing Director and CEO at a number of diverse companies to help the Group discover untapped possibilities. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK (CIMA), the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants UK (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK (CIM). He has served as President of CIMA and as Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce - Import Section.
Ahamed joined the Softlogic Group in 2010 as an Executive Director and is charged with overseeing Group Treasury and its Financial Sector. With over 27 years of experience in the financial services industry, including senior positions at reputed banks, both in Sri Lanka and abroad, he has extensive insight into the worlds of treasury and banking. He holds an MBA from the University of Wales, UK.
Sujeewa is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and the Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka. He is the managing partner of BDO Partners, (Formerly known as BOO Burah Hathy) a firm of Chartered Accountants. Sujeewa holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the PIM of University of Sri Jayawardenepura.
He is the vice president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and also the board member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and a technical advisor to the Confederation of Asia Pacific Accountants (CAFA).
Sujeewa is a member of Monitory Policy Consultative Committee of Central Bank of Sri Lanka. At present he serves as a board member in NOB Bank and was a board member in the First Capital Group for few years.
Sujeewa also was the treasurer of Sri Lanka Cricket and also was the treasurer for Cricket World Cup 2011. He is an old boy of Richmond College Galle.
Pathirana is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK (FCMA) B. Commerce (Special), (Uni of Sri Jayawardenapura, Kotte), and is the Group finance director at Hirdaramani Group of companies and Director of apparel, leisure, power subsidiaries and other associate companies of the Group. He is also a non executive director of Hayleys Plc and was previously non executive director of Softlogic Finance and assistant vice president of Vanik Incorporation.
