‘Green Principles in Lending’: Banking and finance sector networking and learning event

The Sri Lanka Business and Biodiversity (SL B&B) Platform, in partnership with its patron members – Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB) and People’s Leasing and Finance PLC – is organising a networking and learning event for the Banking and Financial Services Industry on the topic of ‘Green Principles in Lending’ on 27 February from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the 22nd Floor, HNB Tower, 479, T.B. Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10.
The objective of this one day event is to raise awareness amongst professionals in the banking and finance sector on integrating ‘green’ principles that could guide and drive sustainable lending practices. It will cater to the needs of environmental and sustainability managers, staff having responsibility for evaluating environmental risks in lending, administration, human resources managers and CSR staff.
Sessions will include an explanation of biodiversity principles having a bearing on the banking and financial services sector, presented by Prof. Devaka Weerakoon of the Faculty of Science, University of Colombo, and will also aim at building capacity on ‘green’ lending priorities, both within and outside the institution. The latter will be elaborated through presentations and practical examples by EML Consultants Ltd. Technical Director Dr. Manitha Weerasuriya, MAS Intimates Ltd General Manager Environmental Sustainability Vidhura Ralapanawa and HNB Chief Human Resources Officer Chiranthi Cooray.
A highlight of the event will be a presentation on the 2015 Road Map on Environmental and Social Management for the Financial Services Industry in Sri Lanka by HNB CEO/MD Jonathan Alles.
