Sri Lankan migrants in Cyprus have silently faced a fluctuating exchange rate scenario consequent to Cyprus changing from Cyprus pounds to Euro and the recent temporary decline in the exchange rate between Euro currency and Sri Lanka rupees (1 Euro = Rs. 160- declined to 1 Euro = Rs. 143-) added to their woes.
To support the Sri Lankan community in Cyprus, MoneyGram sponsored a musical day recently to launch a two-pronged offer for the benefit of remittances to Sri Lanka from Cyprus along with their Super Agent in Sri Lanka, HNB.
During the period MoneyGram reduced its charges on a remittance from Euro 8 to Euro 5. Not only the benefit of a lower tariff, but a very attractive exchange rate second to none was also offered to remitters to Sri Lanka.
Remitters from Cyprus to Sri Lanka were offered this unique twin benefit and MoneyGram Super Fast service through their agents Ellinas Finance Public Company Ltd and the Cyprus Post offices while HNB chipped in with delivering of the remittance to beneficiary’s in Sri Lanka in no time.
HNB has 197 Customer Centres for Sri Lankan beneficiaries to collect their MoneyGram proceeds with 43 of these customer centres open on weekends as well. HNB staff are friendly and courteous providing an efficient service when you walk into an HNB Customer Centre.
Beneficiaries have a variety of products of HNB, to build a better future for their families using part of the monthly remittance a loved one sends from Cyprus.
A sharp growth in MoneyGram remittance from Cyprus to Sri Lanka is already evident.
