HNB Assurance holds Staff Conference 2013

HNB Assurance held their Annual Staff Conference for the ninth consecutive year recently. The staff conference has been one of the significant events in the corporate calendar of HNB Assurance since it is the only event where all employees gather for an official function.

The event was graced by Chairperson Dr. Ranee Jayamaha, Managing Director Manjula de Silva, the Board of Directors and the Management Team of HNB Assurance PLC.

The prime objective of the staff conference is to have a formal communication about the company’s performance for the past year and to disclose the corporate objectives and plans for the ensuing year to all staff. HNB Assurance believes that all employees should be aware of the direction the company is heading in, which will enable them to relate their scope of work to the overall corporate objectives and contribute more efficiently and effectively.

Addressing the gathering Dr. Jayamaha stated: “HNB Assurance has had a positive growth over the past few years in the GWP as well as in the profitability and has had a prudent growth in the year 2012.”

She further stated that the employees were the stronghold of the company and commended their performances. Managing Director de Silva spoke motivational words and stated that amidst the steady growth of the company there were many achievements and awards relating to sustainability, the Annual Report and brand excellence where HNB Assurance has been recognised at various levels including global recognition. The senior management of the company also addressed the gathering.

The following employees were awarded the ‘Chairman’s Award for Excellence’ in recognition of exceptional performance beyond the call of duty: P.H. Ramasinghe, S. Liyanage, G.D. Tennakoon, W.W.S. Peiris, D.P.S.A. Peiris, L.H.S. Samarawickrama and A.R. Jegatheeparajan.

The seven employees who won the awards were selected across the board irrespective of their grade and all of them received a trophy, certificate and a cash award each. This is the highest level of achievement by any employee in the company.

The staff conference was followed by a talent show performed by the very own employees of HNB Assurance along with the company band performing exceptionally well, playing various musical instruments which supported the stars of HNBA to enlighten the audience with their vocal skills.

HNB Assurance recently won an international award for brand excellence during the World Brand Congress and was recognised for winning four main awards for the company’s Annual Report.
