HNB opens 200th Customer Centre in Yakkala

Renewing its pledge to serve the community in the same unwavering tradition the Hatton National Bank has made yet another landmark achievement by opening its 200th Customer Centre in Yakkala on 8 November 2010.

The bank, which started off its journey 120 years ago with only a single branch in Hatton, has at present managed to cover every length and breadth of the county and has created history by becoming the very first commercial bank in Sri Lanka to reach 200 customer centres.

HNB currently stands tall as a dominant financial powerhouse which has managed to enrich the lives of all communities. The bank over the years has served the micro finance sector, small and medium sector, corporate sector and has successfully enhanced the nation’s wealth by funding large infrastructure projects.

Starting off from providing a range of personal financial services to its large customer base the bank today finances some of the largest corporate expansions in the country and therefore proudly offers the entire spectrum of financial solutions for all segments of the society.

The Chief Guest for this very memorable Customer Centre opening in Yakkala was Rienzie Wijetilleke, the Chairman of HNB and the Guests of Honour were Rajendra Theagarajah, Managing Director/CEO of HNB as well as the Mayor of Gampaha Eranga Senaratne.

It is an important fact to note that the first 100 customer centres took a period of over 100 years to be opened whilst the balance customer centres has been opened in a short period of only 11 years. This alone is stand alone proof that the bank has progressively progressed with its people.

To commemorate this very landmark achievement the bank organi sed as series of events which commenced a week in advance of the opening. To mark this momentous occasion 200 trees were planted in two schools in the Yakkala area these included the Gamini Kanishta Vidyala and the Chadrajothi Maha Vidyalaya Yakkala.

Also through the bank’s Nena Pubuduwa scheme two libraries were also gifted to the above mentioned schools. The branch opening itself was a colourful event which included a special procession with the participation of all bank managers representing the 200 HNB Customer Centres and the corporate management of HNB.

Addressing the gathering, Wijetilleke said: “Having achieved a momentous milestone as such as this further endorses the fact that HNB is a bank that is dedicated towards serving the people of Sri Lanka. We are a banking institution that has won the hearts and trust of its people. Through our 200th Customer Centre in Yakkala we aim at better servicing the needs of communities in this area and we invite all those concerned to take maximum advantage of this opportunity and service their financial needs to the fullest.”

Commenting on the bank’s recent achievement Theagarajah said: “HNB has developed at a rapid pace, the very fast paced development which took place in the last 11 years has mainly been due to the trustworthy support we have received from our customers as well as the commitment and loyalty received from our staff members. I would also like to take this opportunity to send out the message to all the people of Yakkala that the HNB is a hundred percent dedicated towards providing them a superior banking service.”
