HNB opens landmark 250th customer centre in Walasmulla

Hatton National Bank opened its landmark 250th customer centre in the town of Walasmulla in the Southern Province in Sri Lanka. This is the 25th customer centre that HNB opened in the South demonstrating its commitment to the people in the South and aligning itself with the development efforts taking place in the South.

The Chief Guest for the opening was Hatton National Bank Chairperson Dr Ranee Jayamaha. Speaking on the occasion Dr Jayamaha said that the 250th HNB Customer Centre in Walasmulla in the Southern Province is yet another milestone in inspiring the people through the bank’s financial solutions and a true testament to the overall vision of the bank. She said that the Southern Province boasts potential and is in a transitional period through its vast projects and development initiatives and is on the verge of becoming a major contributor to shape the national economy in the coming years. Speaking further Dr Jayamaha said by opening this customer centre in Walasmulla, it will provide a unique opportunity to the emerging business community in the Matara and Hambantota districts to grow with HNB in the backdrop of vast development envisaged in the South.

Speaking on the occasion Hatton National Bank Deputy Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Alles said that HNB is the first private commercial bank in Walasmulla which is a strong agricultural area focusing on  cinnamon  and coconut cultivation. He stated that HNB’s aggressive branch expansion strategy in the last three years saw more than 60 new customer centres being opened across the country. He further stated that the bank’s investment in IT infrastructure will make it possible for people in Walasmulla to experience a comprehensive range of products and services including its latest mobile banking solutions.

Hatton National Bank was awarded the best retail bank in Sri Lanka by the Asian Banker Magazine for six consecutive years for its performance from 2007 to 2012 and was also named Bank of the Year in Sri Lanka 2012 by the prestigious Banker Magazine of UK.
