Hatton National Bank (HNB) rewarded 100 children who were the top depositors during the ‘Singithi Savings Month 2013’ by taking them on an exciting educational tour of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) recently.
The children, who participated in a guided tour of the state-of-the-art hangars and aircrafts of SriLankan Airlines, were being rewarded by HNB for maintaining a high balance in their accounts during ‘Singithi Savings Month’ in October.
Children from Embilipitiya, Kandy, Pelmadulle, Valaichchenai, Wadduwa, Badulla, Kurunegala and other areas around the island participated in this fun filled tour and enjoyed it very much. They were truly excited at the opportunity to get a close look at the modern facilities at BIA and to learn a great deal about Sri Lanka’s first international airport. The tour was organised by HNB in collaboration with SriLankan Airlines, which gave away exciting gifts to all participants.
October annually begins with Children’s Day on the 1st and concludes with World Thrift Day on the 31st, providing HNB the ideal opportunity to educate young minds on the importance of saving.
‘Singithi Savings Month’ included several other initiatives aimed at familiarising children around the island with the concept of banking, and in particular saving. These included the launch of HNB Singithi Loyalty card, gifting of a free HNB Singithi account for babies born within that month and the launch of Sri Lankan Young smiles program. Furthermore, 50 HNB Customer Centres were kept open on 26th October for the HNB Singithi Savings Day, allowing children to do banking by themselves.
HNB, the premier private sector commercial bank in the country, was recognised as the Bank of the Year in Sri Lanka for the years 2012 and 2013 by the Banker Magazine UK and was named the Best Retail Bank in Sri Lanka by the Asian Banker Magazine for six consecutive years from 2008 to 2013.
