HSBC Sri Lanka will host its first symposium on ‘Creating a competitive edge through Centralisation, Technology and Partnership’ on 18 March with the participation of Larry Campbell, Group Chief Knowledge Officer at HSBC and Jason Tan, Head of Client Management for Global Payments and Cash Management Asia Pacific. The symposium catered towards its corporate customers, will encapsulate speeches by industry experts and a panel discussion. Jason Tan, Regional Head of Client Management for Global Payments and Cash Management Asia Pacific, who is in Sri Lanka on an official three day visit, will speak on Centralisation, payments convergence, digitalisation and consumer protection. The conference’s keynote speech will be delivered by Dr. Arul Sivagananathan, Managing Director Hayleys Power and Energy sector and Director Hayleys BPO and Shared Services. He will elaborate on ‘Centralisation: How companies can craft their competitive edge through centralisation and the role of strategic partnership in reaping its benefits and ensuring success’. The panel discussion on ‘The role of technology in centralisation’ will explore how technology and enterprise resource planning platforms could be used as enablers for innovation and productivity enhancements to manage account receivables, account payables and other functions across multiple subsidiaries in creating a competitive edge. The panel will comprise Larry Campbell – HSBC Group Chief Knowledge Officer, Jason Tan – HSBC Regional Head of Client Management – Global Payments and Cash Management Asia Pacific, Jehan Mutaliph – CIO MAS Group, Kavinda Wanniarachchi – Aitken Spence Corporate Finance (CEO Financial Shared Services) and Dr. Arul Sivagananathan. Larry Campbell is HSBC’s Group Chief Knowledge Officer. He is accountable for developing a Group-wide knowledge management (KM) strategy and implementing a programme to improve KM efficiency across the bank. HSBC’s Records and Information Governance division, the Group Archives, a Knowledge Management Services utility, and a Global Publishing Services team directly come under his purview. Jason Tan is Head of Client Management for Global Payments and Cash Management Asia Pacific. In this role, he is responsible for the development of HSBC’s Client Management platform, working closely with his regional team to deliver a consistent client experience. During his three-day visit to the country, Jason will also attend client engagement programs and employee events. Campbell joined HSBC’s Global Markets business in Hong Kong in 2001 to manage the e-commerce business development and marketing. He moved to London in 2004 and founded what became the Group’s Global Publishing Services utility. Prior to joining HSBC, he was an Internet Publisher at the Hong Kong South China Morning Post, having joined as Technology Editor in 1990. Larry was born in Sri Lanka, where he began his career as a news journalist in 1984. A journalist-turned-publisher who worked in Hong Kong for close to 20 years, Campbell became an entrepreneur in the mid-1990s, founding a range of technology-related publications and Internet companies in Asia. During the same period he also worked in radio and television, hosting a talk show on technology on Metro Radio in Hong Kong, and acting as a technology commentator on CNBC. He has been a guest lecturer at Harvard and Oxford Universities, and appeared at TEDx Hong Kong in December 2013 speaking on technology and design in banknotes. He is a member of HSBC’s Global Communications Executive Committee, and an active promoter of innovation within the bank. Jason spent three years as Head of Global Payments and Cash Management in Malaysia where he led the aggressive growth of the Malaysian franchise, prior to his current role. His previous roles include Head of Product Management for Global Payments and Cash Management in Thailand and Head of Sales for Global Payments and Cash Management in Malaysia. Before moving into the cash management arena, he held positions in channel management for retail banking, customer relationship management, Internet banking and online content management.
