Insurance companies and Motor Racing Association organise first ever joint insurance motor rally 22

Eight leading insurance companies and the Motor Racing Association (MRA) will hold a first of its kind motor rally on the outskirts of Colombo on Saturday 22 March 2014. The event will commence at 9 a.m. with over 50 vehicles covering a distance of 50kms within the outskirts of Colombo. The rally will end with a culmination and fellowship for the participants and their families. The rally will start and end at the car park opposite Parliament Grounds.
All profits from the event will go to the Sri Lanka Federation of the Visually Handicapped (SLFVH) which is a Government Approved Charity.
The event is supported by the Insurance Ombudsman who is the Advisor to the SLFVH. The motor rally will see the participation of eight leading insurance companies namely; AIA, Amana Takaful, Asian Alliance, Ceylinco, Continental, HNB Assurance Janashakthi, and Union Assurance.
Speaking on the event, Insurance Ombudsman Dr. Wickrema Weerasooria stated: “This is the first fundraiser we are hoping to conduct with insurance companies in the capacity of the Office of the Insurance Ombudsman. We are pleased to have on board on this journey eight leading insurance companies as partners and our co-organiser the Motor Racing Association to raise awareness and funds for SLFVH.”
Dr. Weerasooria also added that the theme of the event is “Time, Safety and Discipline” which is a fundamentally important theme for all motorists.
Also commenting on the involvement with the event Motor Racing Association President David Todd stated: “As a professional motor sports body we are glad to be a part of this event with these eight leading Insurance companies and the Office of the Insurance Ombudsman.” The MRA is a professional motor sports body affiliated to Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS), the governing body of motor sports in Sri Lanka.
